Officials behind the Derby Feste event have regrettably announced that the 2024 event will not be taking place this year.

A recent statement said that the decision had been made after careful consideration and with a heavy heart, in response to the current cost of living crisis and rising overhead costs.

Steve Slater is Artistic Director and CEO of Déda / Festé. He said: "Please know that this decision was not taken lightly, and we share in your disappointment. Festé holds a special place in our hearts, and we are deeply saddened that we are unable to bring it to life this year."

Despite the news for 2024, there is better news for next year.  The statement continued by stating that Derby Festé will return in September 2025, adding that the team behind the event remained committed to ensuring that the festival remains a highlight of the cultural calendar, celebrating the arts, creativity, and community spirit that define the city of Derby.

It continued: "We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and partnership.  For any questions or concerns about this decision, please do not hesitate to reach out. We value feedback and input as we navigate these challenging times.”

"Thank you for your understanding, patience, and ongoing commitment to Derby Festé," concluded Slater. "We cannot wait to come together again in 2025 to celebrate the magic of the festival once more."

A one year pause is being widely supported by both Derby City Council and ACE, and is seen as a move which will allow Déda to re-group and re-focus its programmes to better deliver its work in the current difficult and financially challenging times.

Derby Festé is an annual festival celebrating the arts, creativity, and community spirit in the city of Derby. Established as a highlight of the cultural calendar, the festival showcases a diverse range of performances and events, attracting audiences from near and far, attracting 30,000 to 40,000 people over two days.
