ANGLING: Wednesday NISA Feeders Open Match - 8th May - results and report

Support Erewash Sound

John Adamson reports: As far as the weather was concerned, it was a lovely day to be sitting beside a lake.  It was warm and sunny with a light westerly wind, blowing gently towards the low numbers, and the bulk of the carp appeared to have followed it, although fish were cruising around the lake throughout the day.

Report (continued): With another good attendance, the payout was to the overall winner and then to the (default) top two on each bank (five receiving envelopes).

Andy Findlay on peg B11 said that the overhead tree branches hampered his casting, although, despite that, he still managed to cast his method feeder with the usual consistency with the usual result – a steady flow of decent carp from the lake into his keepnet.  Andy ended with 140-06 for a clear win.

Over on the A bank, Daz Milne continued his current good form to take second overall (and first prize on the A side) with 95-09.  Daz steadily fed pellets and caught mainly on the bomb, although he also tried, mainly unsuccessfully, slapping and mugging with the pole, and the pellet waggler.

Also on the A bank, Gaz Kitch (peg A8) fished the method feeder most of the day for 91-04 to take the final A bank prize.

Another in-form angler, Ricky Arms, on peg B2, struggled much of the day before the carp moved into his margins when a run of fish over the last hour boosted his weight to 88-08 for fourth place and to win the B bank pool, just ahead of Tom Newton, whose 86-13 took the second prize on the B side.  Tom caught on the pellet waggler at first, and then pole shallow in the latter stages.

John Adamson’s 84-07 from peg A21 was sixth overall.  He had one fish on the pellet waggler and the rest on the method feeder in the last 2 hours.

Many thanks to Andy for doing the scales.

NB. Nisa Opens are held most Wednesdays on Lake Two at Makins Fishery (see Facebook "Nisa - midweek open matches" to book a place).
