Arrest made for drug and knife offences in Long Eaton

Police officers from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team have taken action after spotting a young male on a bike who was loitering and acting suspiciously on Wilsthorpe Road. On Monday 13th July, offices went to speak to the male who then tried to make off, but after a brief tussle, he was detained for a stop-search under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. Ilkeston Police officers have issued an appeal for information after a robbery in the area, in which a 15-year-old boy had an e-scooter stolen. The incident happened on Saturday 11th July at Potters Lock, just off Monks Close, where the 15-year-old and his friend were fishing in the canal. Police and Borough Council partnership sees traffic operation in Long Eaton

A joint operation between local Police officers and the borough council has seen a traffic operation carried out in Long Eaton. The initiative saw Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team, Roads Policing and Licensing Team officials set up checks in Wilsthorpe Road. Over a two hour period, 13 tickets were issued for drivers/passengers not wearing their seatbelts, 5 tickets for drivers using their mobile phone and 2 for number plate offences. A joint police and fire investigation into a derelict building fire on Heanor Road in Ilkeston has concluded the most probable cause to be deliberate. Investigators believe the fire most likely started when a naked flame came into contact with combustible materials.
