A bus driver who works on routes serving part of Erewash has picked up a 'Colleague Choice' honour as part of his employer's 'Really Good Service Awards'.

Andy Worthington is based at the Langley Mill depot but gets behind the wheel to work on routes around Ilkeston.  Judges of the trentbarton run awards described Andy as "... quite the character around the depot and constantly entertaining his colleagues with his classic tunes and dance moves."

He was praised for creating a positive vibe and judges added that it was "...no surprise that his peers have reward him as a result”  The 62 year old who lives in Brinsley, said: "It’s lovely to win this award. I really appreciate it.”

The team running the my15 route in the borough from Ilkeston, and through Long Eaton to Castle Donington was declared 'Brand of the Year'. Operations manager Aaron Irwin said: “The my15 team is really hardworking and dedicated. All the brands would be worthy winners but my15 always go the extra mile for each other, for the service and for its customers.”

The really good service awards ceremony featured TV and radio quizzer Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha from The Chase as 'guest speaker'.

Tom Morgan, group managing director of buses at trentbarton’s parent group Wellglade, said: “It’s wonderful for us to get together to celebrate the excellent work of our teams who exceed expectations day in and day out.”
