Officers from the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Team kicked off their involvement in National Operation Sceptre week with a visit to two schools in Sandiacre and another in Long Eaton.
The visits were part of a period in which officers aim to highlight and tackle knife related crime.
PCSOs Hawksworth and Cooper were out talking to pupils at Friesland School and Cloudside Academy in Sandiacre and Wilsthorpe School in Long Eaton to discuss the dangers and consequences of knife crime using a tailored 'SHATTERED' lesson plan.
Other Erewash schools were also set to be visited.
Many other activities have been scheduled to take place during the week between 15th and 21st May, some not be so publicly obvious, however during the week, officers are being seen out and about and engaging with communities.
As well as this, a key feature of Operation Sceptre is hosting a knife amnesty. This allows people to hand in their unwanted knives to various drop off-points at police stations around the county.
You can find the (remaining) locations of the amnesty bins in Erewash below, and more elsewhere via this link.
