Angelique Foster, Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner, is asking the public what matters to them most to help her build on her success preventing crime and bringing offenders to justice.
The Commissioner, now in her third year of office, is determined to add to her significant achievements over the past two years which include ensuring neighbourhood crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) is tackled effectively alongside a strong and visible policing presence across Derbyshire's communities.
The Commissioner has launched a new Listening to You survey, set to run throughout the year, to help her understand the public's concerns and ensure her Police and Crime Plan priorities continue to match their needs. It will also help her target resources to areas that are important to the public so she can maximise improvements to their safety.
The survey, which can be completed on paper or online, asks local people how safe they feel and whether they have been a victim of crime in the past 12 months.
It also questions residents on what crimes they are most worried about, listing a range of offences from anti-social behaviour and fraud to vandalism and assault.
Police and Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster said: "We have made significant progress against my Police and Crime Plan priorities over the past two years, which are our residents' priorities. Burglaries and ASB have fallen significantly, and there are now more police officers and more police patrols which is making our communities safer.
"Working closely with partners, my team has attracted millions of pounds of extra funding into the county to make our public spaces even safer. I will be building on this work and want to hear from our residents about further improvements they want to see delivered.
"Making sure the force has the right resources in the right place to fight crime and tackle the issues that matter most to local people is vital to improving safety. This is an opportunity to share your views and concerns with me directly."
The Commissioner is firmly committed to the provision of strong frontline policing presence across the county. Her Police and Crime Plan puts law-abiding citizens and victims of crime at the heart of community safety, outlining six priorities: strong local policing, neighbourhood crime and anti-social behaviour, road safety, victim support and safeguarding, rural crime and driving efficiencies.
