The New Manor Ground, the home of Ilkeston Town FC, is to play host to a second cup competition which will feature a team of Nottingham Forest legends.

The Will Garvey Trust will see two teams once again compete for the Will Garvey Cup including Jamie Ward - current Robins manager, Jason Lee, and others on Saturday 17th June with a traditional 3pm kick off.

The aim of the 'Why Talking Fixes' campaign led by the Trust is to create talking communities where people feel safe talking about their thoughts and feelings.  They say that just getting your head down and getting on with doesn't always work and that there is a need to challenge this stigma that creates shame and embarrassment and prevents young people from reaching out when they need to.

The forthcoming event at the NMG is being staged as part of specific aims to raise as much money as possible to support WTF Wellbeing Libraries in local schools, which supports this ultimate aim.  There are four local schools with such a library but there are more schools that need them.

Each library costs £1500 to set up and a further £500 to update and renew the books each year.

The WTF Wellbeing Library means that school students across Ilkeston and Heanor have access to books on a range of topics where they spend a lot of their time: at school - taking away one of the barriers preventing young people from accessing support.

The books are on topics that young people want to know about and are experiencing - self harm, depression, eating disorders, friendship issue etc. And each school decides how it manages the library.
