06/06/2023: Ilkeston Brass are an enthusiastic and ambitious 4th section brass band, based on the Nottingham/Derby border.  They are keen to recruit new cornet and tuned percussion players and rehearse on Sunday and Thursday evenings in their dedicated band room at Stanton-by-Dale. 06/06/2023: The Sandiacre Lock Cottages are open for visitors on the third Sunday of each month and Bank Holidays until November 2023 from 10:30am to 3:30pm. There are also special openings on other dates across weekdays and Sundays for organised groups. For more details, please contact Glyn Stendon on 07809 251441 or by e-mail to glynstenson @ hotmail.com. Admission to the cottages is free - refreshments are available and dogs are welcome. Please note that, due to the historic nature of the cottages which were built in 1779, access for disabled people is limited and some parts are inaccessible to wheelchairs or to people unable to climb steep stairs. Donations towards the cost of opening the cottages are appreciated.
