Erewash residents who missed the March 31st deadline to continue getting their garden waste collected for just £20 until March 2025, still have an opportunity to do so after a decision was made by Erewash Borough Council to extend the cut-price deal into April.

The move came after the discounted price proved a huge hit – with the council thanking a massive 27,000 households who flocked to sign up by the end of last month.

The online early bird deal will now continue for another fortnight. It means people have until Sunday 14th April to save more than a third on the standard fee.  From Monday 15th April, the service will cost £32.

Officials at Erewash Borough Council had been battling to keep collections free but sever cuts to finances meant it had to follow other authorities in the country by bringing in an annual charge, however, a statement said that the regular £32 fee remained far below what many elsewhere are being asked to pay.

To take advantage of the £20 offer, residents need to sign up online by visiting the Erewash Borough Council website where they can use their My Erewash accounts.

People can also pay on behalf of family and friends. Full details can be found at: Garden Waste Collections (erewash.gov.uk)
