Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash, has welcomed over £185,000.00 of funding for charities across Erewash as part of ongoing COVID-19 funding and support.

Maggie said: “In a year of unprecedented disruption, we have relied upon our charities more than ever.  That is why I am delighted that six charities and social enterprises across Erewash will share Government funding totally over £185,000.00 as part of the £200m Coronavirus Community Support Fund.

“Our local hospice, Treetops Hospice Trust will receive over £91,000.00, Home-Start Erewash will receive over £63,000.00 and the Canaan Trust will receive £10,000.00.

“Other recipients are Every One Eats in Kirk Hallam, the Cantelupe Centre in Ilkeston and Elephant Rooms in Draycott.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank every voluntary organisation and charity across Erewash for all their hard work and commitment over recent months, which have been particularly challenging for so many.”

In addition to local charities, many national charities, including St John Ambulance, NSPCC, Age UK, Barnardo’s, Fareshare and the British Red Cross have also received extensive funding.
