Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is delighted to have received funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner, Hardyal Dhindsa, to support the ongoing FireStoppers campaign.

The campaign was initially launched at the beginning of February, to provide an anonymous channel for people of Derbyshire to report any information they have on deliberate fire setting.  With the additional funding, Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service will be creating new fire safety boards, social media images, and collateral displaying the FireStoppers branding and contact details.

Station Manager Darren Perrott said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Police and Crime Commissioner for his support. The additional funding will allow us to expand the FireStoppers campaign to reflect the specific issues we face in Derbyshire around deliberate fires.

“In 2019/20 Firefighters responded to 874 deliberate fires across Derbyshire, so we hope by expanding the campaign, and demonstrating the social and environmental impact these fires have on our communities, we can encourage more people to share information to help us make Derbyshire Safer Together.”

Anyone with information about deliberate fires, no matter how big or small, can contact FireStoppers on 0800 169 5558 or via the website at firestoppersreport.co.uk in complete confidence.
