06/02/2010: The 10th Ilkeston Scouts are on the look out for new leaders. The troupe meets once a week at The Bartram Centre in Stanley Common, firstly with Beavers from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on Mondays. Cubs meet on Thursdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and Scouts meet on the Mondays from 6:30pm to 7:30pm and on Fridays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. You don't need to be experienced to lead, so if you're interested in taking on a new challenge, contact Georgina Halford on 0115 932 2423 for further information.
05/02/2010: Residents of the Long Eaton area who are struggling with issues such as debt and bankruptcy are to be helped after a local charity extended coverage into the area. Citizens Advice Bureau, based in South Street, Ilkeston, has now opened an outreach office at Dovedale Primary School,
05/02/2010: A map showing how Kirk Hallam and Little Hallam have changed over the decades is being sold at venues around the borough. The old map demonstrates the changes over 70 years. Ilkeston and District Local History Society is behind the reprint of a 1938 Ordnance Survey map, which shows Kirk Hallam as a village with 300 residents, compared to 7,500 today - there is neither a post office or shop shown on the map. In Little Hallam, the Sanatorium was still in use and new homes had been provided to local colliery workers. To purchase a copy of the map for £1.50, visit Ilkeston Library, Erewash Museum in High Street, Ilkeston or Shipley Park Visitor Centre.

The group has regular discussions, is run by the people of the area, and works with local authories and organisations to give the over 50s a local voice. 05/02/2010: The Ilkeston and District Astronomical Society meet regularly to discuss star gazing and developments in the space industry. Group members also take part in regular trips out to view the night sky. For more information about membership, send an e-mail to idaswmt1@aol.com.

05/02/2010: The 4th Ilkeston Scout Group holds activities at Christ Church Hall on Vicarage Street, Cotmanhay, every Wednesday during term time. A number of adult volunteering opportunities are available whilst supporting Beavers (aged 6-8) from 5:30pm - 6:30pm, Cubs (aged 8-10) from 6:45pm - 8:15pm and Scouts (aged 10-14) from 7:30pm - 9:00pm.
