23/05/2012: The Alzheimers Society host a Memory Cafe in Breaston on the fourth Thursday of each month.
28/10/2010: Erewash Sound features a tribute to popular Borrowash village barber Ron Newton - the popular hairdreser ran a salon on the main road in the village for decades, until the effects of cancer forced him into a brief retirement before leading to his sad death.
30/09/2010: 'Butterflies' was set up in the Summer of 2009 to cover the Derby and Derbyshire areas and support parents who have found it difficult to attend their local support groups. There are already 60 members and numbers are growing daily, with interest in the group from as far afield as Australia.
30/09/2010: The Long Eaton Twinning Association involves tie-ups between the town and others in mainland Europe. Long Eaton is twinned with Romorantin-Lanthenay in France, and Langen in Germany. The Association is looking out for new members to get involved in exchanges and other related activities.
27/06/2010: Tributes have been paid to a traditional and popular Borrowash barber who has died just a short period after ill health forced him into retirement.
07/05/2010: The Derbyshire Autism Services Group Parent/Carer Support Group holds a monthly local session for parents/carers of children and adults with an autism spectrum condition.
13/04/2010: Are you an Oddfellow? If not - why not? The local branch is called the Pares Lodge and are celebrating their 200th anniversary in 2010. The group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:30pm at the Rose & Crown in Draycott. After a short business meeting, a number of social events are held.
06/02/2010: Would you like to find out more about what health issues exist amongst Erewash people? If so, you're encouraged to join the Erewash Patient Involvement Forum. Anyone can join and no experience is needed. The group has legal powers which enables it to scrutinise how the NHS is being run in Erewash.
06/02/2010: Erewash residents can now recycle commonly used drinks cartons at special recycling sites across the Borough, as the Council trials a new Tetra Pak recycling scheme. Each year, UK beverage carton manufacturers produce approximately 55,000 tonnes of paper-based cartons for milk, juice, sauces and other liquid foods/drinks. This equates to around 2.3kg of cartons per household which could be recycled instead of thrown in the rubbish bin.
